Deceive Inc. gets to live on through community servers

According to this blog post, Deceive Inc., the 3v3 spy hero shooter is getting a life extension “to be sustainable indefinitely”. Made by the now closed Sweet Bandits Studios, the game stopped receiving updates in 2024. The new update explains that they are reworking the backend, so that it supports servers hosted by the community. They will also keep up some official servers to ensure that both the PC and the console crowd have a place to play more matches.

 

While it’s not the focus of this work, they are trying to “remove as many technical barriers to modding as we reasonably can as a part of this work” as a nice addition. Their main goal is “making sure the future of Deceive Inc. is in the hands of the community that continues to play it”.

 

It’s nice to see that there are people who care about their product, instead of never providing any means for the fans to continue playing their game after sunsetting it.
